Hydraulic cylinders and control for lifting system on pontoon

To treat (clean, paint, etc.) quaysides at the Flemish waterways a lifting systems to be used on a pontoon has been developed. Vapo Hydraulics has been asked by the mechanical constructor of this system to take care of the hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic power unit. Biggest challenges within this project were the very short lead time of just under a month and being able to guarantee the safety during installation. The hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic power unit were completely designed and realised within the Vydraulics Group, this way we kept full control over the delivery times and lead time. Vapo choose to make use of standard products of the Vremac assortment. Pumps and valves were obtained from the components stock from Doedijns. Both choices helped to shorten the production time in a major way, without even slightly reducing the quality.

The designed lifting system makes use of two lifting cylinders on both sides of the pontoon, one telescope cylinder and one cylinder that guarantees tension on the cables during manipulations. To keep the system compact, the choice was made for a higher than usual pressure. The installation of the lifting system on the pontoon had to be planned into the smallest detail to guarantee safety and avoid unnecessary costs. During the operation the lifting system can be proportional and remote operated from a safe place on the pontoon by use of a control pendant.

Bridge Ouderkerk across the Amstel

The Ouderkerk bridge connects the municipalities of Amstelveen and Ouder-Amstel. The bridge originates from 1936 and needs replacement seen from both a technical and traffic perspective. Hydropack has been signed to design, produce, install and eventually maintain the two hydraulic units that drive the movable sections of the two new bridges. In general such a hydraulic unit consists of two double functioning cylinders, two main pump sets with adjustable pumps, an emergency pump with permanent flow and a manual pump.

The main drive of the bridge is designed as a closed system/circuit. Characteristic of a closed circuit system is that the return flow of the output devices will not be sent back to the tank, but will be sent directly into the suction of the pump. The closed system is divided into a main system that provides the actual drive of the system and a support system. The support system consists of so called filling pumps, these will complement the difference in volume bottom/shaft side and provide the steering pressure. The main pump set applied in the bridge system each consists out of five pumps. Two of these pumps are driving the movement of the bridge. The other three serve as filling pump to be able to meet the required filling capacity.

The bridge is an important transportation route and the Amstel is a heavy-used waterway for both commercial and recreational vessels. Meaning the impact of the new bridge and improved traffic situation will be major.

Future proof Heli fuel system

Offshore transport of, for example service employees, is still done by helicopter quite a lot. Sypack was asked to develop a fully autonomous functioning heli fuel system to place on a transformer island at a wind farm. Since these helicopter flights for commuting are taking place multiple times a day, such a heli fuel system will increase the efficiency and safety.

The system Sypack designed meets all contemporary requirements and can completely be monitored remotely through all the incorporated sensors. The sampling of the jet fuel can be done remote and the system will clean itself daily to guarantee the jet fuel quality. To ensure helicopters can always refuel, the system also has a sensor that signals timely when new fuel needs to be ordered.

The complete heli refuelling system has been designed and fabricated in house by Sypack, including programming of the software for all the sensors.

GDM increases production capacity

In recent months GDM has heavily invested in the expansion of their machinery. With the purchase of the Mazak QT250MSY turning machine with Robojob and the DMU65 Monoblock milling machine with automatic pallet exchange GDM added two highly advanced and state of the art machines to their already impressive machinery.

The Mazak QT250MSY turning machine has a main spindle chuck of Ø250 and a sub spindle chuck of Ø170. Handover of the item from the main spindle to the sub spindle is possible, as is direct programming from STP file with the SmoothG control. The turning machine is loaded with a robot, this makes it possible to operate the machine unmanned. The robot can handle pieces up to 20kg and a diameter of 200mm.

The DMU65 monoblock is a state of the art 5 axle, simultaneous milling machine with a milling range of X735 x Y650 x Z560mm. It is possible to connect up to 180 tools to the machine, making the milling options unlimited. Also with this machine the robotised pallet loading makes it possible to operate the machine unmanned. The robot has a capacity up to 300kg, 8 pallets of 400x400mm and 3 pallets of 500x500mm.

GDM has specialised in the processing of precision parts for the industry, all CNC milling, CNC turning and grinding is done in house. As part of the Vydraulics Group, GDM also has operational excellence as a key value. Increasing the production capacity and improving the price/quality ratio by investing in the right people and resources is part of this strategy. By purchasing these two machines GDM clearly states to also be a perfect partner for high volume production.

Wandfluh introduces proportional pressure reducing valve MQPPM22 with integrated electronics

After the introduction of the original MQPPM22 valve, Wandfluh now offers a version with integrated electronics. Like the original one, this valve is available in different pressure ranges (up to 350 bar) and suitable for flows up to 40 liters per minute.Because the electronics and valve are paired on the test bench, they work excellent together. If the applications forces you to make adjustments to the parameters, this can be done via the fieldbus or the free PASO software. The valve is also available with a 7-pole connector plug, a standard connection used in many places. Read more about the possibilities here.

HydraForce launches the EHPR98-G37

HydraForce introduces the third generation of proportional reducing/relieving valves type EHPR. The new solenoid makes the valves more energy efficient than its predecessors without negative effects to the functionality. The introduction of this third generation EHPR-valves also comes with the introduction of the EHPR98-G37. This valve takes a maximum pressure setting when no current is applied to the solenoid. Therefore it can create safe situations within specific applications (e.g. applications with a brake). When using the retrofit mounting plate, this third generation can replace the previous series in the same cavity. Read more about how and where to apply the EHPR-valves.

XE serie replaces Easyline of Cypag

From January 1st 2021 the pneumatic cylinder series Easyline of Cypag will be replaced by the XE Series. This XE series is lighter in weight, cheaper and in line with the ISO15552 norm completely exchangeable with cylinders within the same norm. Read more.

New: Ace Wire Rope Isolators – Isolation and damping of vibrations

Noise reduction and vibration insolation are becoming increasingly important in our daily lives. Wire rope isolators are ideal for shock and vibration-proof bearings. They also meet the requirements of military assumptions such as MIL specifications.Due to the great variety in the possible design of wire rope isolators, they can isolate a wide range of different loads from vibration. The WR, WRS and CR families are suitable for masses from a few grams up to several tons and are absolutely maintenance-free.

Wire rope isolators can be used particularly well in areas where other vibration isolators cannot be used due to extreme conditions such as heat or cold, acids, seawater, UV, etc.

Wire rope isolators offer a particularly large usable spring travel, low natural frequencies, low resonance transmission and rapid decay of the amplitude in the event of shocks. Furthermore, there are no signs of fatigue after dynamic overload. Read more in the product brochure.
