Sandbank offshore wind farm
Doedijns supplied the complete Hydraulic System for a Pile Gripper Frame to Bilfinger Marine & Offshore Systems. The system has been installed and commissioned and has been used to succesfully install a total of 72 Wind Turbine foundations for the Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm in the German North Sea. This makes the total amount of installed Wind turbine foundations with the help of a Doedijns system close to 400 foundations.
The project
The Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm is located 90 kilometres off the German coast, so that the wind farm can’t be seen from the coast. It extends over a total area of 60 square kilometres. When completed in 2017, the wind farm will be able to supply more than 400,000 households with green electricity.
We delivered
The scope of supply for Doedijns consisted of a containerized Hydraulic Power Unit, control manifolds, complete e-control incl. a Remote Control and touchscreen, Piping and Tubing, Sensors, Flushing of the system, Cylinders (up to 450 mm bore), Hydro motors with Planetary gearboxes, 2 x 20t winches and the complete commissioning and installation of the system.
Bilfinger awarded Doedijns with this project thanks to its proven track record in supplying advanced hydraulic systems. Previous project references have been decisive for this pile gripper project, where Doedijns developed and implemented the dedicated hydraulic control software for this system as well.
“Thanks to our experience and flexibility we have been able to design, build and commission the system in a very short time – only 12 weeks. Doedijns delivers Turn-Key, we do everything in house including development of the software and the complete Electrical Controls. The Offshore wind industry is a demanding industry requiring short delivery times once the projects are given a go-ahead. We are glad we can serve the industry with reliable solutions.”
